In my turks head knot journey beginning I found the Catherine knot in Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leatherbraiding. Took me a while to realise that it is a Pineapple knot type 1 tied inside out. And there was a mistake in the description I think. I struggled endlessly with this knot. Now that I know Pineapple knots much better I was able to tie this knot of which someone showed me a drawing which looked like being of Tom Hall's. Although I like his drawings and can follow them quite well as I learned basically all from him I found the drawing very confusing. I managed to tie the knot by using the knowledge of tying a PK type 2. The slightly confusing bit came at the end where I thought I had not split a pair. But as this is a PK done with one strand without being a perfect PK the working part never meets the STP. I marked them yellow in one picture. Working the end in at its right place also split my pair.
