Over and Unders, we don't need no stinking Over and Unders!

Just kidding, I'm working on a 27 part x 24 bight 3 pass, Type 3 Pineapple Knot (naming it the T. Hall way). I still used Dan's tut as a guide, even though it is for a smaller PK. I also followed his advice of using different colors to make it easier and will have to replace the pass with the same color, "the long, arduous process". LOL I'm not sure how long this journey is going to be before I just start tying a PK without looking intently at Dan's tuts, but it is getting easier.

I wish I had written down the O & Us for the 9x8 but it is like if I don't concentrate on the knot, .....

Looking forward to seeing your O&Us for the big one.

If you look at Bud's tut for the 4 bright, he says, "The long 4 bright can be made any length. It is determined by how many turns (making more brights) you make initially. ...." I am definitely not sure, but it would seem to me this would work for any PK, as long as the common divisor rule was followed. Nice hammer, huh???

Rick ~

Smile  I agree, with the "don't need the Os-Us, but there is NO WAY I would have said that 6 months ago [and we all know how frustrating this can be to learn without good pix and instructions]

I pressed one of my children into writing down the Os and Us as I tied the 13p6b base knot and the 11p6b interweaves last night.  (went much faster)

Bud was right ( you can make a LONGER ~ more PARTS ~ 4b or 6b etc knot if you turn around the mandrel more times in the first half cycle)

VERY nice Hammer ~ I'll post pix of my 60p12b BaseBall Bat handle later today.  I liked the way it turned out and was amazed that I still had my bat from my days as a little league slugger some 35 years ago.....

Such good looking work Brian!
Looks like you sized it pretty good.
The PK paracord have the core strands still in?

Yes ~ i did NOT gut the cord as I wanted the fob BIG...

credit for getting the knot geometry right for the core size goes to Charlie Hollister (knotttwhizzzkiddd on KHWW).  All I did was ask him what geometry, pass count and PK Type....  He was happy to share the details.

Very nice job, Brian.
If it falls off the table you should be able to hear it clunk on the floor. LOL

Here's a long 4 bight single lead pk.
15P x4B three pass type 1
Capped the end with a 7P x 6B 2 pass type 1

Thought I would share and hopefully generate some interest, perhaps to jump start someone.

OK fellow knottyers. I am getting fairly proficient at tying type 1 3 pass single line pk's, but I have seemingly hit the proverbial wall (mental block(?)) in expanding these to another pass.
I'd like to learn how to add additional passes to these single corded knots.
When I try using what I think is the logic of the multi-lead pk's I reach an impasse at the lower bight boundary where I must split the first pair.
The over under sequence changes and from there on out it gets ugly.
7px6b base.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey Scott,

Although I haven't tied the single strand,  it should be the 4th half cycle and I think it should be:

4.) <----- O3 U3 O3 U7**

_________________________________________________________

Both photos from the 4th half cycle of the 3 rd pass from Dan's  ...type 1 - 3 pass (from a 7x6 turk's head) tut.

With the 3rd pass you have 3 bights below the under 5 as the red dots show in the photo. With the 4th pass, this will change to 4 bights.

With the 3rd pass you go under 2 x's and then a single strand as shown by the red dots for a total of u5. With the 4th pass you just need to add one more x before you go under the single strand to split the pair for the u7.

From here it should be:
-----> O3 U3 O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U3 O3 U7**
-----> O4*** U3 O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O3 U7**
-----> O4*** U4*** O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O4*** U7**
-----> O4*** U4*** O4*** U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O4*** &Out

Hope this helps buddy, and even more than that I hope it's right. LOL

First off, Thank you Rick. You are always the first line responder and I appreciate that.

"From here it should be:
-----> O3 U3 O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U3 O3 U7**
-----> O4*** U3 O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O3 U7**
-----> O4*** U4*** O3 U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O4*** U7**
-----> O4*** U4*** O4*** U3**
<----- O4*** U4*** O4*** &Out "

^^^ Where did you find this above run list and what is missing?

The ninth post here I talked about it:
http://pineapple.myfunforum.org/about1098.html&highlight=

The first 4 half cycles are missing.
Here they are:
-----> O3 U3 O3 U2
<----- O3 U3 O3 U6
-----> O3 U3 O3 U3**
<----- O3 U3 O3 U7**

Scott, I haven't tied this knot but I think these run lists are correct, just from comparing the 2nd pass to the 3rd and then changing the 3rd to what the 4th should be.

Rick

Appreciate you updating me. I think I have found my answer/mistake.
If it turns out and looks worth a damn I'll post a pic.
Thanks again.

Scott

PS  You should tie one soon.

Just finished the over/unders and the run list is right on.
In a while I'll dress it a little and put it to a core.

BTW, the initial challenge was due to the onslaught of CRS and I was forgetting to follow the right side lead on the down stroke. Makes a huge difference!
Yeah, old age ain't for sissies.
