So, I have no Falconry experience and wish I could have the knot in hand (or at least a larger pic) but it appears to be an 8 strand square sennit which ends in a 4 strand (doubled) crown knot.  The center of the "button" looks very much like the "gimp" stitch.

What stymied me was the finishing knot which the advert called a sennit rose knot.  Coincidentally, Brian Kidd of KHWW, posted a picture out of one of Tom Hall's books which details this knot.  While it is done in 4 strands in the picture, it shouldn't be too hard to expand to 8.

You can find this tutorial here:

Hope this helps.

HUH?

Here is a quick sample I put together using the Sennit Rose tutorial posted via the earlier link.

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/60/3516060786_17f514de81.jpg?v=0

I used "Complete Book of Decorative Knots" by budworth for the 8 strand braid (pg 148) and to lock in the end of the braid near the Sennit roses, I tied an 8 strand WALL knot before the Sennit Rose.

Good luck and please let us know how you make out.

You made me laugh! ---->"gimp" stitch!!

Yeah, it's just about !  Laughing  but i love that too.

I think it is started off as 4 strand braids then four strands combined into t 8 strand square sinnet . then finnished off with "finishing of LLK" but it is finished in 1/3 way. something like that!  is it correct do you guys think?  Very Happy
