I am relatively new here. I found on Knotworkn site some instructions for making a single strand 8 plait grommet. I have an application for the grommet, but I have no knot books for reference, as I am just getting "back" into knotting. I am a child of the 60's, and a macrame'er... lol. I am also a basket weaver.. So, I am looking for some more instructions, pictures, video maybe, for that particular item. I have gotten to the point I would be starting my last time around in both directions, when I get lost. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

...it has a lot of great information on fancy
knots and the "two-strand, eight-plait grommet"
...also the beautiful "single-strand, eight-plait trefoil"
...i'm not sure but i think if you can follow the
directions for the two-strand grommet you should
be able to make one with one strand???...

Thanks Dan. I have no knotting books yet. My "library" is all basket books at this point in time. I dont believe I have enough birthdays this year to catch me up. I have been knotting like crazy. Key fobs, dog leads, crosses, horse halters, some bracelets, all from materials found locally. Not the best quality, to say the least, but I am enjoying myself, and love the challenge of learning something new.. I think I have my mind finally able to grasp how a Turks head works. I want to try some Nantucket bracelets, but I have to order some good cotton first.
The application for the grommet is the following: We just purchased a new horse trailer, which came with NO tying loops welded to the frame on the inside. This is a stock type 4 horse trailer that has more horizontal supports than vertical ones, so horse leads slide along the horizontal support allowing the horses to move too much inside the trailier making for a less that safe ride. And as this trailer is brand new, we want to keep it in as good shape as we can, and weaving a cord tie ring was my idea to keep metal off painted metal. So, for ease and safe tying, I was thinking I would like to weave a grommet around each central side post, then make some double ended tying ropes, with a quick release panic snap (which we have already purchased) on the grommet end. It has been recomended to me to use 550 paracord with the core intact to keep the size down and the strength up as a material for use.
I never seen to do anything the easy way. Easy stuff bores me. LOL I need the challenge. Thanks for your help Dan. Very Happy
